Welcome to the Web-Site of St. Helen Church In Shively Kentucky

Welcome to the St. Helen web-site.  St. Helen is one of the oldest parishes in the southwest part of Louisville and Jefferson County, KY.  This year we celebrated our 110th year as a parish.

We are currently embarking on a new path.  In June of 2007, St. Matthias parish was clustered with St. Helen.  In June of 2008, the parish of St. Denis will be joining this cluster.  These clusters were formed as a result of the Archdiocesan Reorganization Plan.  It is also the direction of this plan that these three parishes be merged into one parish during the next three years.

Obviously this process has brought about some changes.  The most recent change was the combining of masses at St. Helen and St. Matthias.  Currently the 4 p.m. Saturday mass is being celebrated at St. Matthias which is located at 2208 Dixie Highway.  The 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. masses are celebrated at St. Helen at 4005 Dixie Highway.  When St. Denis joins the cluster in June of 2008, an adjustment to times and locations of the masses will again happen.

As good stewards of God's many gifts, we are working together to establish a new parish that will meet the sacramental, spiritual, physical and educational needs of the people of this area.

God Bless You,

Fr. Tom

The parish priority meetings have been enlightening to those who have been present. We have already met about the future of school and the senior and community concerns. Please check the calendar of events section for future dates and topics.

The Stewardship Committee has scheduled many activities for the coming months. Some of the events are social, some are service and some are just plain fun. Check the Stewardship section for a list of upcoming events.
